Schemata Architecture Office Represents “Thin” Architecture
Another incredibly thin house, the work of Japanese architect Jo Nagasaka from the studio Schemata Architecture Office that is already familiar from previous publications.
This is the real miracle built in the peripheral part of Tokyo, reminding of a flat screen TV.
The aim of the authors of the project was the construction of a modern house, which despite a small selected area, would satisfy all the needs and desires of customers.
Land granted for the building, located very close to the carriageway. However, the result of the work of architects has exceeded all expectations. The roof of a narrow house was “chamfered” at an angle of 63.2 degrees. Both inside and outside the building is absolutely minimalistic. This stylistic decision was most appropriate, in connection with the need to preserve every inch of free floor space, both physically and visually.
The orientation of the windows was chosen to preserve the confidentiality of the private life of the inhabitants of the house. However, large window openings that are “turned away” from the neighbors’ windows and the roadway, promote penetration into the premises of sufficient natural light during the day and at the level of sensations, expanding the real borders of the rooms.
