Luxury Bath of 30th
In a suburban house near Llanidlous in central Wales, a remarkable event occurred: there was found a shower of the last century. Release date of the rarity was 1930. This fashionable model is presented in the auction of AUCTIONEERS HALLS. Experts Simon Kirby and Thomas Crupper estimate the cost of the cabin, consisting of a bath and a shower attachment, ₤ 4,000. The time of manufacture of the shower belongs to the period when such a luxury was available for units, so experts consider that this find has almost no analogues.
The bath is made of cast iron and has a standard design of 1920th. The design is mounted on a metal frame, which was probably glazed. There are five tubes connected to each other, through which water was flowing. In 30th this shower was an indicator that the owner occupies the highest level of the social ladder, and can afford to buy luxury items.
Bathrooms with such a prestigious and expensive equipment could be found only in very expensive hotels or private homes of wealthy people. Variety of options for exclusive bathrooms and showers appeared only in 1980. According to experts of HALLS, at previous auctions such lots were sold on ₤ 100. So, the found shower in Llanidlous is a real antique.
