Acer palmatum ‘Pixie’ Japanese Maple

Pixie’s Spring Foliage Arrives Pink-red But Quickly Deepens To a Dark Wine-red. The Undersides Even Flash Their Bronze-green As The Foliage Flutters In a Breeze. It Presents Finely Cut Palmate Leaves With Seven Lobes That Taper Into Slender, Pointed Tips. Pixie Maintains Its Rich Color Throughout Even The Hottest Summer Days and Bursts Into a Blaze of Brilliant Crimson In Autumn. Its Reddish-black Bark Adds So Much To The Winter Landscape That You’ll Hardly Miss The Brilliant Fall Color. Even Though It Grows To a Petite Height of Just 6 Feet Tall, Pixie Can Almost Reach Its Full Height In Just 10 Years and Creates a Rounded Shape With a Dense, Well-branched Habit. Pixie Requires Full Sun For The Darkest Foliage Color and Is Resistant To Leaf Scald, But It Can Also Be Grown With Great Success In a Part Shade Location (Preferable In The Deep South). Due To Its Dwarf Habit, It Is An Excellent Choice For Containers, Bonsai, Gardens With Limited Space, Or Even Foundation Specimens.
