Types of Furniture Leatherette
As a rule, artificial leather is used in making soft furniture; sofas, chairs, seats of chairs, footstools etc. Products coated with such material are strong and durable, have nice appearance, it is easy to care for them, they don’t fade in the sun and are not wiped.
Modern technologies of artificial skin include several types of manufacturing. As a result several species of artificial leather can be obtained, which will subsequently be used for upholstery. The most familiar and the most unloved artificial leather for us is leatherette. It is a cotton fabric having one or both sides nitrocellulose coating. This is a rather cheap looking fabric, which today for the manufacture of furniture is almost never used because it doesn’t meet the requirements of strength and durability.
There is also another type of artificial leather, which has tissue basis on which the layer of polyvinylchloride material is inflicted. The basis can be of cotton, polyester or mixed type, and the PVC layer may have different densities, colors, thickness, which determine the appearance of the product. This type of leatherette, today, is the most popular material for upholstery, which not only has excellent performance, but a presentable appearance, virtually indistinguishable from of genuine leather.
Modern range allows to produce artificial leather furniture, perfectly imitating the use of natural materials, including color, shape and texture of all skin types; animals, reptiles, suede, patchwork fashion sewing, etc. It also has a diverse range of colors, which allows to pick any color upholstered furniture solutions for any space. Furniture leatherette is especially recommended to use in those locations where there is a particularly high rate of wear; for example, in kitchens, restaurants and bars, offices, medical and banking facilities, etc.
