Modern Furniture Made Of Felt
Despite of its glamorous rustic appearance, felt is always valued by furniture designers for its durability, tactile warmth, ability to take and hold almost any shape. In recent times, there are so many modern furniture from this ancient material that it is already the time to talk about the new “felt” tendencies.
Here is being introduced the last three masterpieces from felt, created by designers from all over the world.
Peacock chair made by the Italian company Cappellini on the draft of the New York Studio Dror. Seat and chair hack are the three layers of felt, wrinkled, and attached to a metal frame. No sewing and no upholstery is done.
Felt chair Zaza created by the Israeli designer Omri Barzeev. Laser cut and pre-decorated chair seat sandwiched between parts of wooden base and fixed with plastic clips.
Stool Ewe, invented by a graduate of the University Kinston Yu-Hun Kim, was recently presented at the London New Designers Exhibition 09. The layers of industrial felt lay on both sides of a plywood sheet. Industrial felt, consisting of soft wool fibers, can be easily cut into layers of any size and thickness. Using this property of the material, and alternating hard and soft felt, the designer gave a stool original layered structure….
