Inga Sempe Introduces Simplicity And Ease Through Couch Ruche
At the first winter exhibition imm cologne and Maison & Objet, the company Ligne Roset has demonstrated a new creation of the French designer Inga Sempe – couches Ruche. This is not the first collaboration of Inga with the famous brand: In 2007, the designer developed upholstered furniture MOËL for the company. Working on the collection, Inga wanted to achieve emphasized soft, pleasant comfort, promising comfort and security: and here comes a smooth rounded shape. The name of the collection comes from the French moelleux, which is translated as “sincere and gently”.
When working on a new collection for Ligne Roset, Inga didn’t want to repeat herself: “This is a totally different approach: a sofa grows from the land of its simple elegant frame, which has a comfortable soft seat”.
Ruché models are original variations of the designer on a theme benches-rockers, the construction of which is metal frame with a taut cover, inspired Inga at creating a new collection.
Taking to the basis of the idea, the designer came up with a series of couches, which are easy, concise design and clean lines. A simple wooden frame is made of beech wood. On the basis, soft puff was thrown, produced by using the technique of quilting in the form of needlework, in which the hand or machine stitched at least three layers of fabric. On the surface of this quilt relief pattern is formed and it becomes three-dimensional.
The collection includes two and three seater couches and footstool. The original solution proposed by the designer, was a couch with one arm rest: one third of seat is not closed and the veil can be used as a tray or coffee table, where you can put the lamp, put the book down, control, etcetera. “This is a good option for small rooms with limited space for the coffee table”, – says the designer.
