It seems to you, that everything is under control; the apartment is clean and smells fresh repair, new furniture pleases the eye. So, here’s the problem; “How to choose the correct cornices?
The thing is that there are so many options for making curtains and a huge number of different moldings. And as for the combinations of “cornice-blind” even more!
First, determine to what cornice will be attached, the wall, the ceiling or between the walls. Which wall? Straight or rounded, as in the bay window? The same is with the ceiling.
Second, decide from what cornice should be done, from wood, metal, aluminum profile or metal strings. If you are fond of minimalism and don’t like heavy curtains, the string cornice is your option.
Having chosen the type of cornice, you should select the shape and the size of it. Curtain rods can be combined. Note that the round wooden curtain rods with a diameter of 60 mm will look hard in a small bedroom, and a thin metal cornice will be “lost” in a large living-room and will sag under heavy curtains.
It remains to “fit” the eaves under the blinds, which you have already chosen. If you want to hang tulle, you need double eaves.
The length of the cornice should be determined according to the ratio of the size of the windows and walls. Long cornice will close part of the wall and will expand the window. Cornice to the ceiling and curtains with swags will make window appearance grow.
The main decorations of the cornice are tips and decor. Tips will give the cornice a finished look and will emphasize the general style of the room, whether it is in classic, modern, vintage, empire, country or colonial style.
