Decorations for Furniture Improvement

Tattered chair can be decorated with clippings from old magazines. This may be an interesting exibit in your home interior. This chair will fit well in modern style interior, it will also attract the attention of your guests and members of your family.

For chair decoration you can use any magazines, where there are small pictures or photos. In this case, the old comic books with lots of pictures are used. Of course, this technique can decorate any furniture that has lost its original new look, for example stools, tables, chests of drawers, cupboards and even closets.

Images and photographs should be cut. For the convenience of sticking they should be no more than 10×10 cm. For sticking you will need PVA glue and a brush. Images must be stuck overlap in a chaotic manner, gradually sticking entire surface of the legs, back and seat of the chair. After sticking you should wait until the paper is dry, then you may cover the product with varnish.

For finishing, you can use acrylic lacquer, it will create matte surface. Acrylic varnish should be definitely smeared in two layers. You can cover collage witn alkyd varnish, as well. In this case you’ll get a glossy surface. Alkyd varnish will give a kind of warm color surfaces. For furniture yacht varnish is the best suited, it is very durable and has extreme resistance to abrasion.
