Feng Shui Style: Make Your Basement Comfortable and Useful
Based on our experience, the basement symbolizes the “subconsciousness” at home and its inhabitants. People keep there any kind of goods: a broken clock of 50-ies, beaten-eaten ancient rugs, cabinets from chipboard with broken windows, three-legged chairs and tables, photo albums with pictures and more or less useful things. Most of all these things had to be thrown away long time ago and the rest should be kept in order and, above all, cleaned – in cabinets and on shelves.
We have often had occasion to see how a cluttered basement is a residence of the house constant undercurrent of resentment, because “down there” (or in the attic, where there is often some unimaginable chaos) lies something unexplained and unresolved. The apartment itself may be perfectly furnished, but if in the basement piled lumber, the house will be dominated by a constant concern. The most important rule of Feng Shui in this case tells the following: remove items from the basement, clean it and throw broken or smashed stuff. Yes, based on lessons we have learned, we came to the conclusion that the basement, which is in order, promotes a settlement of disputes and removal of blockages of communication within the family.
