How to Choose a Color of Flooring

An important element of the color of your home interior is the color of flooring. The floor, unlike the ceiling has a major drawback: we walk on it, i.e. coating wears out and loses its pristine fresh look. Therefore, the floor should be not only beautiful but also durable.

When choosing colors for flooring professional designers advise to adhere to the following principles:

The best option is to choose gender neutral colors. No need to draw attention to it, especially if the room has beautiful furniture and other decorative items. The floor should help to perceive the interior.

Often, floors are made of natural stone, such as granite. But because of the high cost of natural stone, many prefer travertine (tufa). Ceramic floors are the most commonly used, since they are beautiful and durable. If the room is large enough large format floor tiles look very nice and impressive.

Honey-colored wooden floors are, of course, most preferable. The “old” the wood looks, the more beautiful looks the floor.
Dark color wooden floors look much better than light ones.

Ceramic tiles should be of a neutral color, which is ideal for floors of terracotta color, which is always in fashion. It is preferable to use light flooring in the bathroom.

Carpets should also be of neutral color. Ideally, all the expensive things in the interior, that can serve more than one generation in the family, should be in neutral colors. This ensures that they will never go out of style.

Wood and stone flooring is best to cover with large carpets. It is advisable to use natural colors, like sand-colored or green.

Wooden flooring is recommended to bleach and rub by special means. You need to avoid too bright colors for the flooring.

Handmade carpets must occupy the entire space from wall to wall. Runners can be both traditional and eclectic.

Granite, marble, traditional rugs of wool are very fashionable again. Dark floors are very successfully combined with handmade woolen carpets. Stone floors of dark colors are best combined with bright colored carpets.
