Piston Pump: Water-Lifting Device For A Country House
Piston pump for its construction is similar to the stem one, but it’s still somewhat different. The main condition of the pump is shallow (10 meters) of occurrence of the aquifer or high water.
Piston pump is installed at the upper end of the water-lifting pipe at about 0.7 – 1.0 m from the ground level. Piston pump consists of a cylinder, inside of which the piston is installed. Piston valve is mounted in a piston, and a disk in the bottom of the cylinder valve is mounted.
When the piston starts moving down, the disk valve closes and water from beneath the piston comes out through the open piston valve into the space liberated from the top of the piston.
When the piston starts to move upward, the valve (piston) is closed and the water column rises above the piston in a water receiving tank. At this moment underneath the piston the air vacuuming process starts. Due to this, the disk valve opens and pumps the water into the space under the piston.
The piston rod is necessary for the reciprocating motion of the piston. It is pivotally connected to the balancer.
To produce a mechanical pumping of the water from chinks, a reverse valve is installed. It helps to combine work piston and electric pumps.
