Like a car jack, the Fireplace Friend works one step at a time, literally, since stepping down on the foot lever a few times exerts 1-1/2 tons of pressure against the stationary steel wedge to split the log. Powder-coated, heavy-duty steel construction and spring. Splits seasoned logs up to 18″ long, 10″ in diameter. Folds for storage.
