Nambé Planar 8-by-14-Inch Bowl

The stunning Planar collection of crystal bowls and vases is a lasting contribution to the functional art world by award-winning designer Karim Rashid. Aesthetically a match for either traditional or contemporary home or office décor, each piece perfectly blends flat planes, graceful curves, and crisp corners. Rectangular in essence, the Planar bowl rests on a small footprint with angled bottom planes joined by arching sides. The simple beauty of a Japanese footbridge arching over a stream comes to mind. Enchanting on its own as an art piece, the Planar bowl may also hold fruit, flowers, or collectibles for display. Each bowl is flawlessly crafted of full-lead crystal by skilled European glassblowers, and should be washed by hand to preserve its brilliance. Planar bowls come in several sizes: 5-1/2 by 9 inches; 6-1/2 by 11-1/2 inches; and 8 by 14 inches. A pair of small 5-inch votives is also available.
Nambé was founded in 1951 in a village of the same name in scenic northern New Mexico. From the beginning, the company focused on hand-producing high-quality, functional items such as sand-cast metal bowls and trays with great attention to timeless, modern design. Porcelain dinnerware also now joins Nambé’s crystal and metal lines, all of which make exceptional gifts for the most special of occasions. Nambé ware has won numerous design awards, has been shown in or recognized by nearly two dozen museums worldwide, and is part of the permanent collections of many, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Perfect for floating candles, presenting colorful fruit or practicing ikebana, this stunning piece doubles as both a contemporary bowl or vase with a unique shape that pairs geometic angles with gentle curves. Designed in crystal by acclaimed Namb? artist, Karim Rashid.
