Windows for Wooden House
A wooden house is a perfect place to relax or feel at home. Due to the unique qualities of the ecologically pure material, that is wood, the best temperature conditions become possible in the house all year round: in winter it is not cold, in summer it is not too hot. One of the important issues that arise during the construction of wooden houses is the problem of windows. What kind of windows will best suit a wooden house?
Plastic and metal-plastic windows are unquestionably leaders; they are widely used in the construction of new high-altitude buildings, as well as during the replacement of old wooden windows. However, it should be noted that for wooden houses wooden and not plastic windows are mainly used.
The quality and durability of plastic windows primarily depend on the manufacturer, the characteristics of materials and glass. The correct installation is very important for a long-term successful operation of such a window.
The advantages of plastic and metal-plastic windows are that they are strong and reliable, provide good sound insulation, are aesthetically acceptable, yield well to hygienic handling, do not need painting and periodic handling, do not require additional heat insulation, and thanks to a wide variety of shades of plastic they easily fit into any interior.
The disadvantages of windows made of plastic and metal plastic that the material is not breathable, and if the window is not open for a long time, the air indoors becomes stuffy and dry. The situation gets worse in winter, when furnaces overdry the air and there is no possibility for regular and continuous ventilation; the “unnaturalness” of the material: even the high-quality plastics cannot be considered ecologically clean one hundred percent. During the heating, a certain number of chemical compounds evaporate into the air, and the effect of these fumes on human health has not been studied yet.
Wooden windows will fit well into the interior of a country house and will show its coziness, originality and environmental cleanliness.
Wooden windows “breathe” letting the air in even with closed folds. In the local market joinery and euro windows are the most popular.
Wooden windows are easy to set; however, you can’t do without a good master. Among the disadvantages of wooden windows the discomfort during washing, rapid pollution, the need for regular treatment and the lack of opportunity for fixation of open folds are worth mentioning.
Thanks to modern technology, high-quality wooden windows are practically not inferior to plastic ones by convenience and opportunities for manipulation. And if you choose wooden windows, keep in mind that wood is a combustible material. Therefore, for long and safe use, it is recommended to treat the wood with antiseptic solution and flame retardants.
