Atelier 11 Introduces Pan Long Gu Church Project
A well-known Chinese architectural studio Atelier 11 developed innovative and very progressive project of Pan Long Gu Church, the construction of which is now already underway in a picturesque area of Tianjin district (China).
Modern aesthetics of the conceptual building is based on a “quotation” from the European architectural language, however, fully reflect the understanding of Chinese philosophy, the relations between the souls of man and nature.
Temple That Exceeds Its Bounds
The church has two chapels, one of which faces the mountains. Here are the chair and place for the choir. A long window at the end of a spacious staircase offers beautiful views of mountain vistas. The second chapel is located at the top of the first primary. A triangular “window to the sky” is intended to create a special, soulful atmosphere during the prayer, and a terrace, located here, suggests a space for recreation.
Inspired atmosphere of the place is devoid of conservatism inherent in religion. This is a very “alive” space, which tends to give opportunity to direct the look into the sky and feel yourself, the true meaning inherent in the prayer and church attendance.
The inner space of the building is a harmonious interaction between nature and architecture, “talking” to visitors that the temple does not end outside the church, it finds his continuing in nature and in every human heart.
