Recreation Area: how to turn a summer residence into a resort
Lucky are those who have a country house or a cottage! Going far is not necessary: you can relax in comfort even there. You just need to make a real recreation area in your country house!
When creating a recreation area with your hands, do not undertake complex projects. Simplicity and harmony are the main guarantee that you will be able to cope with the main task. In accordance with the area, you can select one or more zones: summer kitchen and dining room; recreation area / SPA-zone; children’s area; playing/ sports area.
Transition from one area to another can be done with large flat stones or plates, or with special stepping stones. Climbing plants may help to beautifully and tastefully isolate one area from another.
Summer kitchen and dining room
Homemade cafe in nature can become a real club to communicate with family and friends. To turn gatherings at the table into a pleasant pastime, it is necessary to make the dining area beautiful and comfortable. So you will need to get garden furniture – table and chairs / benches. As a rule, outdoor furniture is made of weather-resistant materials – wood (teak, beech, larch, pine), aluminum or plastic. Wicker garden furniture (rattan or synthetic resin) is gaining more and more popularity. In addition to table and chairs a small table with drawers where you can store utensils, napkins and a variety of useful things will also be very helpful.
The summer kitchen can’t go without grill or barbecue. For weather protection use suburban gazebo for after-dinner gatherings.
SPA-zone
Depending on your preferences a swing, hammock, lounge or lounge chair can be set in a recreation area.
If there is enough space, garden swing can be established not in the garden but on the terrace or veranda. Swing-sofa is a comfortable and practical choice.
If the space allows a pool may also be set- inflatable or hydromassage. There are large inflatable pools with a diameter of 2.5 to 5 m. Usually they have a round shape, but there are also oval pools with 7 m length. Most models are equipped with manual or electric pumps. Hydromassage outdoor pools are equipped with adjustable heating system and are widely used for the therapeutic treatment of the human body as part of the prevention and treatment of many diseases.
Kids Corner
If there are children in the family, then you need a children’s corner for a happy holiday in the country. It is to be arranged in partial shade, next to the house. For safety reasons, children should always be in sight of adults. For young children, the best option is to make a sandbox. Today, in the market you can find tables-sandboxes divided into “sand” and water parts – the kids will surely enjoy it!
Playing zone
Those who enjoy outdoor activities can create a zone for sports. It is desirable to arrange this area on a flat plot of land – this ensures safety and convenience. For example, the traditional lawn will fit, regularly cut and well groomed. The grass cover is recommended to be cut at the height of no more than 20-40 mm. Depending on your preferences, you can tile the playing area with natural stone, rustic tiles, decorative concrete. In the sports area you can set the horizontal bar, darts, basketball hoop or tennis table – it all depends on personal preferences.
