Pumpkin Decor for Halloween

Halloween is an old Celtic festival with ancient traditions. Originally it was celebrated in English speaking countries. In our time, it is celebrated widely and universally.

How to make a lantern from a pumpkin?

1. First you should cut a small hole and remove all the pulp. The hole can be cut with a knife or a small sawing. If you are going to use candles, you can cut a hole in the overhead part of the pumpkin. Place the candle in a glass or ceramic container with high walls and never leave it unattended. For electric lights the hole can be made at the bottom or the side.

2. With the help of a scraper or an ordinary spoon, remove the pulp and clean the inside.

3. The next stage is the drawing of a figure. It can be done by hand or on previously prepared template. Template needs to be fixed at the pumpkin and then you can make punctures with an awl or a needle along the outline of the figure.

4. Remove the template and cut out the pattern along the previously made puncture using a scalpel or a sharp knife. Inside you can place candles, a small flashlight or some other source of light with batteries.

5. For the illumination of the carved pumpkins you can use Christmas garland. The thread of the garland must be once or twice wrapped around the glass jar.
