Outdoor Design with Lemon Tree
The exotic south plant lemon has long been an ornament of our apartments. This beautiful tree can be grown from seed, but it is more rational to grow lemons with cuttings. The planting of cuttings can be done at any time of the year, but they take roots better in case of spring – summer planting. They take root in 2-3 weeks. Out of the 10 cuttings usually 7-8 take roots. The cuttings should be taken from a 10-15 year old plant and from the sprigs of the third – fifth order. Do not use the grafts of the same year as they rarely take roots. The branch should have 3-5 leaves.
The lower leaf should be removed completely, the rest should be cut half, only the top leaf should not be touched. Cover the planted cutting with glass jar and keep it at a temperature of 20-22 degrees. Water it every day, but not abundantly. During the first 3-4 waterings compact the soil slightly. With the appearance of the first new leaf remove the jar. The stand for lemon tree to three years can be arbitrary, but small, and since 3-4 years it is better to use wooden stands. And remember that there should be no flowers near the lemon tree, because it does not like other scents.
