Modern Flooring: The Granite
At the end of the last century Italian experts developed a unique decoration material, which was called granite or artificial stone. Granite composition reminds of porcelain, its process of manufacturing is close to the production of tiles, both by its appearance and technological properties it is similar to natural stone.
The composition of granite contains only natural ingredients. For its production we use a mixture, which consists of the following components: high-quality clay, quartz, feldspar and mineral dyes. The main technological processes are the pressing of mixture and drying. At the end of the mass is subjected to high temperature firing. The result is a material which by its characteristics doesn’t concede to natural granite. But, at the same time, it may have any shape and size, many colors, as well as different texture of the surface.
Porcelain tile is an excellent finishing material. It is not only environmentally friendly but also has the following exceptional qualities:
• water resistance and water tightness;
• resistance to sunlight, frost and drops of temperature;
• great solidity, endurance, reliability and durability;
• incombustibility, resistance to chemicals;
• resistance to the appearance of chips and scratches on the surface;
• High density, whereby the surface of granite is resistant to abrasion.
