Leong Leong And Siki Im Represent “Foam” Boutique
Specialists from the New York design office Leong Leong developed and implemented the concept of boutique men’s clothing from designer Siki Im in New York. This “model” made with foam, is a combination of minimalism and organic “cave” of education.
The unusual building was built based on structural elements that had previously served as an office.
The facade and the walls inside the new building were covered with soft foam formed on the basis of soybeans. A flexible, relief and a very nontrivial space was formed with the help of the same foam for the showcase of clothes.
With the purpose to form places for the rest and “window dressing” small cavities and steps have been carved out in the foam walls. The project concept consists in extravagance of designer clothes supply and a desire of authors to make the process of acquiring more fun and intimate, because to come here, visitors must take off their shoes.
Studio Leong Leong is an architectural firm based in New York – founded by Leong brothers (Dominic and Chris Leong). At the moment, designers have developed a network of trendy and extravagant shops in Seoul, Los Angeles and New York.
More recently, the creative studio has been chosen as the winner in the contest New Practices 2010 Competition held in New York and annually celebrate outstanding designers and architects of the “new generation”.
