Interior Design in Chinese Style
Interiors inspired by Chinese culture, present bold colors, along with decorative furniture and accessories. Pieces of furniture tend to have carved parts or wooden details with hand-drawn illustrations. So, this type of furniture is usually covered with lacquer and has a shiny appearance. Accessories continue this “dramatic” style, featuring animal motifs, or they may contain images of mythical animals such as monkeys and dragons. Porcelain vases, large jars, and pots are decorated with complex patterns in many colors or in classic blue and white. They are also an important part of the Chinese interior.
Other elegant items, which are often seen in interiors decorated in Chinese style, are large wall murals, plaques and screens which portray historical figures or scenes from legends in bright or saturated colors. Bright red color in the Asian-inspired interior design is the most popular, perhaps because it means good luck in Chinese culture. Other bright colors such as yellow and green are used as accents. Colorful paper lanterns are often done in very bright colors. Wood tones tend to be dark and rich in color. Furniture and accessories in Chinese style are copied from the sophisticated styling of prominent Chinese buildings. While the Chinese stuff is very popular today, it originally became popular in the mid of 1800th in Europe. This Chinese influence can also be seen in the architectural style used in many garden pavilions and pagodas.
