If you have never seen furniture, like the leaves of trees or smooth curves their branches, you are probably not familiar with the works of designer Joseph Walsh.
Joseph Walsh is an industrial designer from Ireland, who opened his own workshop studio in 1999. There is an interesting detail that is worth noting: Walsh has never received education in his profession, he is completely self-taught, an experimenter and enthusiast, driven by his own ideas. Currently, the designer is well known in his sphere, his works of limited editions can be found not only in the chic, expensive houses, but even in a number of international museums that exhibit the work of Walsh as true works of art.
According to Walsh, his main inspiration is the nature and the diversity of its forms. Complex and intricate forms of designer’s furniture are created to ensure that people using these furnishings are able to experience visual and tactile sensations. “I believe that home furnishings must have the aesthetics and appeal, not just functionality” – Walsh writes on his website.
Most of the furniture from the designer is made of bent laminated wood. Walsh prefers to use wood, various metals, as well as glass. The designer usually selects oak for wooden furniture. With each new collection, Walsh is improving his skills. For example, the incredibly beautiful bed with an unusual headboard can be seen in the boutique hotel The Iniala Beach House, opened recently in Phuket.
