Home Decor: 5 mistakes you should avoid

To make your house beautiful, fashionable and comfortable at the same time is not an easy task. Here are the five most common mistakes you’d better avoid than enrich your decorating experience.

1. Too many little things in the room

Even accessories and decorations collected with love and a sense of style can together create a strong visual noise, arise a feeling that too many things are happening all at once in the room. In order to offer an interesting topic for reflection and not arrange a stressful interview, forcing to respond to many things, limit to three things in one genre and a maximum of two themes, for example, pattern and color.

2. Interior in one style

You have surely seen a lot of rooms, whose owner was trying to create a space for everything at once, or to keep uniformity, carefully selecting all elements of decor in one style, in one color, one texture. Monotony looks dull, and the line between eclecticism and the bazaar is almost invisible. To properly play contrast, gain experience and do not be afraid to experiment. Grey is warm, bright yellow accessories help create picturesque decorations and antique dresser or set of frames are able to breathe life and warmth even in a minimalist style of the interior.

3. Arrange furniture strictly along the walls

Distributing furniture around the room, you give up the opportunity to create a cozy corner with chairs, armchairs and sofa in the center and risk turning the house into a ground for training cleaners. It is true that cabinets, sofas along the walls are convenient. However, it is one of the most common mistakes. Besides, pressed home furnishings close access to the walls, whereas they can be used as a canvas for works of art, capable to transform the environment. And with the help of a bar, wine cabinet, bookshelves it is possible to comfortably zone rooms with sufficient area or a non-standard form.

4. Paint the walls in white

This is the most controversial and bold point. On the one hand, white walls dictate Scandinavian style, lately caressed both by fashion fans and professionals. On the other hand, colored trim is one of the simplest and most spectacular ways to create a personal, living space. If you are ready to exchange a certain amount of resources for the invaluable experience, experiment with one wall. Use a bit of patterned wallpaper, select color – maybe you do not need white walls but lemon ones instead, not liquid wallpaper but fine plaster. Overall, the message is clear: more boldness and expressiveness!

5. Earnestly heed trends

Experienced designers advise to follow the fashion in details, otherwise you risk getting a trendy, but completely soulless interior, which will shout in a couple of years: “This is the last season.” Try to start with pillows or curtains, soft textures, which are able to look out of time. Check the durability of any beautiful picture, remember that you invest in repair not only money, but also a part of yourself. So let the proportion be decent and harmonious.
