The Canadian company VANCOUVER DESIGN STUDIO offers a new device for separation of large space into areas in the open premises using paper-based flexible partitions. This invention is an elementary set; it is very mobile and compact.
Partition “Molo” is a simple design, which consists of four layers of compressed flame retardant translucent paper, that is three centimeters of such paper can be stretched up to seven meters. Each fragment of partition weighs 7.7 kilograms and can be combined with other design elements for the creation of a long on length partitions.
The constructions of “Molo” allow to divide large spaces into areas of various forms. They don’t make the interior “heavy”, as they have a light structure and reflect light. Through stretching and bending of the walls, you can create entire corridors, bizarre in its shape. The style and the functionality of “Molo” enabled the invention to take a permanent place in the collections of MoMA: Museum of Modern Art in New York.
