Construction With Your Own Hands: Wine Cellar Construction

Building a wine cellar, as a rule, they start by marking on the ground the size of its future walls. After starting to dig the soil from the identified units, i.e. dig a hole. If necessary, if the ground starts to crumble, it strengthens the retaining wall. Advised not to dig a hole in small sizes. This will facilitate work on the plastering and waterproofing work. After that the bottom of the hole (half buried) is formed.

Establish a strong and secure ladder.

After the executed works, the formation of the walls begins. They are often placed out of brick, stone, concrete, stones, bonding them with a solution and, if necessary, pour the concrete. Then construct a ladder, install shelves and conduct electricity.

The construction of a wine cellar should begin during the dry season for avoiding blurring the rain.

The floor in the basement is aligned, compacted and paved with several layers of clay and concrete. It is recommended to construct sand-gravel cushion if the ground water are not deep.

Next, the wall construction begins. Usually they are made of brick, concrete, at least from a tree.

If the walls are concrete, formwork is set so that the future thickness of the walls was no less than 10 cm, height – 50 cm for concrete strength carefully ram and put the armature. It is advised to plastered with cement mortar wall surface with inner and outer sides. After that, the exterior walls should be covered with cement.

The lower part of the cellar (floor) is dry and lime. The upper part should be made wider than its size. This prevents the snow from the winter and extremes of temperature.

Inside the cellar like this special conditioners and wine racks are installed.
