Color Psychology in Interior Design
When choosing the colors for people who value peace and comfort, as well as to design rooms for rest and relaxation, it is better to choose pastel tones and play on the nuances; on the delicate coloring decisions of primary color or of related colors in the spectrum. Such an environment has calming effect, and the contrasting strokes in the form of furniture or decoration of the walls only complement the overall feeling of comfort and don’t cause irritation.
Choosing interior color for expressive young people who love parties and noisy company, you can use bold contrasting solutions. Red-green, yellow and blue, orange and purple colors look bright and impressive, lifting mood and stimulating the nervous system. But it is worth remembering, you shouldn’t design all the rooms in the house in this way, there should be a place for emotional rest in cool, relaxing colors, such as in the bedroom or bathroom.
Choosing a color for the design of a space, it is necessary to consider its functional purpose, since a man expects a specific decoration in each room and entering into it, he psychologically adjusts to the specific mood and behavior. Dissonance in feelings and in color of the room may cause discomfort in your own home.
Psychologists advise to design the bathroom in soft pastel shades with light splashes of contrasting shades of white, black or any bright color. This solution relaxes the nervous system, but at the same time is not boring for perception.
In the kitchen, according to psychologists, warm colors are appropriate, especially if it is a place where you usually eat. Yellow, orange, red, brick, pink stimulate and strengthen the appetite, promote digestion. Even the furniture and the floor are better to be executed in the same color.
Child’s room should be both interesting and relaxed, so here it is appropriate to use gradual contrasts. For example, the sleeping cabin and the workplace can be arranged in calm and cool colors (blue, green, light green), and the game zone can be arranged in bright, cheerful, and even variegated colors (yellow, blue, pink, etc.). Don’t use in children only red and black, so as not to have extra pressure on the emerging psyche of the child.
Brown and green shades in the office create an atmosphere of pacification and concentration. For people with vivid temperament (choleric, sanguine), such a combination is simply optimal, but for people with more calm character more saturated colors can be used.
