Choosing a Rug

People love to decorate their homes with rugs, hang them on walls or lay them on the floor. Carpet not only decorates the room, but also gives comfort, and some kind of warmth of home. This is especially true in the cold season in winter.
The history of carpet has its roots in the distant past. There is historical evidence that people have used carpets, since ancient times. Primitive man used the skins of dead animals, to shelter the cold stone floors in the caves. Over time, people have learned to weave wool, shorn from sheep. Then carpets similar to the modern ones appeared, which were made from the filaments.
Carpet is now a part of human culture. The colors, the decorative pattern, styles and shapes depend on cultural development. The first carpets appeared in the East. They were implemented by hand, woven or intertwined, using the technique of weaving nodular and had a great variety of colors and designs. In the 14th century the first carpets in Europe were produced, repeating the technology and designs of Oriental carpets. Later, in the 17th century, Europe and other countries have developed its own designs, different from the eastern. Modern carpets have inherited some of the historical traditions.
How to choose a carpet? First, decide the size and coloring. It can be colorful geometric ornament carpets of the nomadic tribes, or, for example, on softer colors, ornate floral designs of Persian carpets. Much depends on whether you have to lay it on the floor or hang on the wall. When choosing a carpet you should also take into account that floor carpets used more, so it is better to lay the carpet with high density of pile on the floor. The closer the carpet fibers are, the higher its density. Denser nap better resists deformation, elasticity and will keep the original look.
How to choose the right size? Large rug covers a large space of the room, as if fully shaping its image. Carpet of a medium-size will emphasize a certain zone in the room. Small mats are suitable for decorating the room – they can be used around the couch, in front of a fireplace, near the baby crib.
What is fashionable? Today, fashion is very democratic. Modern, classic, curly carpet from wool, avant-garde rugs, mats. Ethnic motifs (Indian, African) are very relevant. Rugs in the style of Japanese minimalism are highly relevant too. According to design and interior specialists, today carpets occupy an intermediate position between the antique furniture and antique prints.
