BIG Introduces Innovative Project “Green” School
Danish architects of the studio BIG developed an innovative project for the city schools Esminderod (Denmark). The area was an unusual building of 7000 square meters. Natural relief terrain of the area provides a perfect backdrop for an organic architecture of the future Vilhelmsro school and its open areas.
School With An Environmental Slant
Undulating landscape and the sloping roof of the school are merged into one continuous image. It is equally comfortable stay, both inside and outside the structure, while walking, for example, its green roof.
However, the landscape surrounding the school serves not only as an aesthetic background, but also an integral part of a progressive school curriculum, which focuses on the study and conservation of nature and environmental sustainability.
Formed as part of the landscape, the building blends seamlessly with the environment and allows daylight to penetrate the flow in all classrooms. The premises are also well provided with natural ventilation, in winter keeps the heat and cool in summer.
