Bedroom Decoration: Make a Canopy

Canopy looks very impressively and beautiful in the bedroom or child’s room and it is very easy to make.

When hearing the word “canopy” we immediately imagine a bedchamber if an oversea beauty, concubine of the sultan, telling thousands of fairy tales or a bedroom of a fairy tale princess.

If your feelings are burning with bright fire, why not make a canopy in the bedroom? Or bring a little fairy magic into your daughter’s room – making a princess’s bedroom with the canopy will please the child very much.

In order to make a canopy, remember the lessons of labor. It is easy and does require large financial investments.

Canopy – choice of fabric
Let’s start with the selection of fabrics. For the canopy the fabric should be either light, then your design will look light and airy, or, very thick, if you want to be able to completely hide in your little world. Curtain, tapestry, velvet or organza fabrics are suitable for an adult’s bedroom. For a child bedroom it is better to choose natural fabrics. This can be a printed cotton or silk. Do not reject natural fabrics – let the canopy be less fairy, but you will surely get a healthy and happy sleep for your child.

You can order a canopy in the studio, or you can sew it yourself. The chosen fabric must have a width of 1,5 meters. First, it needs to be attached, to process and decorate.

Canopy Frame
To make a frame is the most difficult task. It would be ideal to order it in a workshop. But you are also fully capable to making it yourself. While its creation you can remember the technological process of making a curtain for a bathroom. All the difference is that the metal rod bents in a semicircle or the “P” letter position, then rings are mounted on it, and it is fastened to the wall or to vertical supports by the two ends.

You can make the frame of the canopy from the tree, when thick wooden beam is fastened to the wall, and to the edges – wooden slats, located perpendicularly to the wall. You will need a light fabric, which is simply pounced on the frame.
And finally – in the construction and fastening of the canopy frame you must remember about safety. Mounting the canopy should be maximally powerful, then the interior of your bedroom will be beautiful, and you will always sleep calm.
