Reconstruction Of Ramses Square In Cairo
It’s town planning competition project of reconstruction of Ramses Square in Cairo. Innovative, radically new design of transport interchanges and the above-ground parking is offered. Highway shifted outside the square. In specially designed spiral-shaped craters parking is located.
Funnel-helix serves as a transport interchange for the unregulated traffic signals of highway.
The highway is constructed in a four-level “tube”, suspended on the bridge.
• at the first level light subway line are placed.
• at the second level urban transit communications (water, gas, electricity, digital communication, etc.) are placed.
• the third and fourth levels of “tubes” are reserved for vehicular traffic.
Placing a counter motion on different planes allows to increase the number of road lanes and facilitates the isolation of unregulated high-speed arterial highway traffic (oncoming traffic do not overlap, which makes optimal both a right and left turns).
