Aires Mateus Architects Launched Casa Areia – Sand Floors
In famous annual Venice Architecture Biennale architectural Exhibition held in Venice, which is going to be held from August 29 to November 21 2010, Lisbon Company Aires Mateus Architects introduces a complete solution, consisting of four small “sea” cottages with sandy floors under the name Casa Areia.
The authors suggest this fascinating project to those, who seek to find themselves in the most natural conditions, however, without rejecting comfort, convenience and romantic Mediterranean style.
The project is a dwelling on the coast, where the authors proposed to cover the floor in the kitchen and living area with natural sea sand, so to bring them closer to nature and the outside natural landscape in a best way. In order to create maximum comfort, sand is heated by a special setup.
The building and roof of the main house are made of wooden frames, which serve as framework for natural fibers, giving the house even more stylish color and sincerity.
Bedrooms are located in separate structures with more traditional wet floors, painted white, sterile walls, the same snow-white curtains, original decoration and local sources of illumination.
It seems that Casa Areia is the perfect style solution, even just looking at pictures of which you can hear the sound of the waves, smell the morning coffee and evening breath of the sea breeze. And in these snow-white bedrooms, of course, you can see the most colorful dreams.
